crazy I've been thinking for awhile.. I haven't got the money to pay off the expenses for these crutches and cast, and the brace.. And I don't want to borrow money from anyone. I'll have to pay them back eventually anyway. So I came up with an idea a few days ago, and I've thought on it, and I've decided. I'd only have to work for a little while, anyway..
About an hour past dinner I snuck out of the house and caught a taxi uptown. Right in the heart of town is this ritzy restaraunt and I've noticed a lot of people go there.. I'd figured they would pay a lot of money. I walked into the elegantly set restaraunt, the maroon carpet and curtains engulfing me in the candle-lit coziness. I walked up to where the host stood, looking awful snooty just like I expected he would.
"Hey," I said casually. "I saw your advertisement in the paper a few days ago, y'all still looking for a singer?"
He gave me a disapproving look, glaring at my belly-button ring. "Well.. Hoenstly, we don't accept your kind here."
"What's that supposed to mean?" I asked slowly, but before I could say anymore, a very tall, beautiful Uni with rainbow arm-warmers, a sleeveless bright pink shirt and a tiny mini skirt walked in, looking from the host to me.
"Wotcher, Ronnie!" she greeted the host, grinning ang putting an arm around his shoulders. "Tryin' to get rid of me, are you? Another singer?"
"We're not taking her," he said dismissively. "We've already got one troublemaker.. You." However, he was blushing slightly at being so close to her.
"Ahh, y'know you love me," she said with a bright grin, showing perfectly white teeth. She looked at me. "You're hired, I'd love to have someone else up thereo n that stupid stage besides me.. Let me warn you, we don't get to sing songs that are any good-"
"Hold on, -you- can't hire her, Keady," Ronnie said, shaking his head.
Keady took her arm from him and stood there. "First, it's pronounced 'Key-AY-dee', and second of all, you guys told me I could hire whoever I wa-"
"Not -her- though! Anyone but this gi-"
I spoke up. "Why not me?"
"My question exactly, Ronnie-Ron-Ron." Keady smiled again, turning from the host to me. "You start two days from now. Hey, I don't think I caught your name.."
"Di," I replied with a smile and a nod. The host lookedl ike he was about to speak, but I cut him off. "I'll see y'all then, 'kay?"
Well, there you go. But I'm not going to tell anyone.. If I can help it. I hope no one asks me where I am in the evenings, especially if they ask me in front of my friends. People tell me I sing good, but I'm embarrassed to tell my friends. However, I have no objections singing in front of people I don't know. I sure hope no one I've met shows up at the restaraunt.. I'd die.
